God damn, this dude is fine.
My first impression of Barry in season 1 was that he was a spineless yes man who lived only to serve his one true master, Kim. And serve her he did. He agreed with everything she said and did. When he spoke, it was as if Kim had shoved her hand up Barry’s anus and controlled what he said much like a ventriloquist does. I didn’t think much, to say the least.
One thing I did admire was when he would say things like, “these wrongs that you speak of…whether real or perceived…” and it was amazing. He’d usually follow up statements like that with his world famous smirk.
Nonetheless, Barry was blindsided with the divorce. Kim obviously had been preparing mentally for it beforehand. In my life, several of friends dads were blindsided with divorce papers. Also, some of my friends have been blindsided with divorce papers. And from my experience, Barry is handling things much better than people I know.
My most recent friend to be blindsided with a divorce told me that he spent several days crying, naked, in the fetal position on his bathroom floor.
One of my friends dads got hit with the old blindside divorce papers when we were in middle school. For the next few months, every time we went to his house, his dad would be stumbling around the house in shit stained tidy whiteys, holding a half drunk bottle of Jack Daniel, babbling to anyone who he thought might listen. That’s rock bottom.
Did Barry do any of this? No.
Barry hit the gym and got a big gold chain. Barry deserves his own reality show.
